Turangi Kiwi Holiday Park Reviews

Great budget motel for exploring Tongariro National Park!

We booked a twin cabin, which was perfect for our purposes – we simply needed a cheap place to get a few hours sleep before starting the Northern Circuit early the next day. We arrived late and left early and the owners were very accommodating. If you are travelling as a pair and don’t require (and don’t want to pay for) any extras such as a kitchen or a private bathroom, you simply want a place to sleep before continuing your adventure, go no further.

Friendly staff, excellent location

A quiet but centrally located spot, within easy reach of the town centre with all its amenities. Basic but clean facilities and even a bit of history: this is the last survivor of the single men’s camps that once housed construction workers for the huge Tongariro Power Scheme of the 1960s and 70s.

Excellent base for holiday

A great place for a quiet, relaxing holiday with lots to see and do in the neighbouring districts. Bush, river and mountain walks, hot pools, cycle trails, and more. Excellent supermarket and good eateries in Turangi, and Taupo is only 40 minutes away.

Good base for Tongariro

Travelling as a group of 4 this place was perfect for hiking the tongariro crossing. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. Remember to bring your own bedding as it’s not provided. Just two sets bunkbeds in the huts with pillows. Huts can get pretty cold but a fan heater is provided and this was great! Everything you need for low budget accommodation just $20 a night each! Showers were also hot and great! Thankyou

Well priced and well located!

The Turangi Holiday Park is the perfect base to explore the wealth of sights and activities in the area! From White Water Rafting to premium hikes, our lovely hosts showed us that there is heaps to do here. Staying there and saving on accommodation allowed us to do even more!

Good base for the area

Stayed on campsite, had a private spot with electric hookup separated from neighbours by bushes/trees. Good very clean kitchen facilities with plenty of tables and chairs for eating both inside and out. Bathroom’s looked clean and tidy, didn’t stay long enough to try out the showers though, just an overnight stay on way home. Helpful chatty staff. Good location for exploring the area.

Good for a late arrival

Staff were very good at responding to my emails about arriving late at night. They left the key out for me with a map so I could easily find my cabin. The small cabin i booked was perfect for my needs, the bed was comfortable and it had a heater to keep the cold out.

Excellent Hosts and Accommodation

Outstanding hosts for our school camp. Riza, Albert and Shelagh went above and beyond our expectations. Totally recommend for any group-large or small. The food was excellent and cabins were nice and tidy.

Super friendly

Great, basic cabin for a cheap stay. They provided sheets and towels for and extra $10 which was great as we had no room to pack these. Great water pressure in the shower, a few more hooks in the ladies shower would be handy though. 🙂

Simple, Great Location, everything you need

I booked twin cabin for the very last moment. What I really appreciate – owners are obviously used to have late arrivals – so you can find your key where is reception even you are coming in the middle of the night – and we arrived around 1 am. Cabin is very simple, it reminded me camp sites where I went when I was younger, but it has everything you could need – simple beds and some space for your stuff. The surroundings is very nice, I felt there so good.

In the camp – toilets (nice – clean), showers with hot water, laundry, kitchen with dishes (basic), parking. Location is just great – we spent one day for Tongariro NP and the second day we went to Taupo. Location of accomodation is just in the middle of the two of them.

What more can I say? I did not see other type of accomodation but cabin was very simple, quite old, the same for kitchen and bathrooms, but everything was very clean!

We spent there two nights and used basic facilities.

If you do not have hight expectations and you like camping, I would say this is really good option when I compare location vs price. I would go again, recommended!

Great, friendly owners

Had a really good stay. The owners are working hard to upgrade facilities. Doing a good job too!
Excellent value for money and handy to the village.
Great list of activities around and about Turangi.
Thank you.
